Emporda Golf sits in the Baix Emporda, the stretch of low-lying farmland and wetlands between the Pyrenees foothills and the Costa Brava coast near Pals and Torroella de Montgri. Designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, the club opened its Forest Course in 1990 and added the Dunes Course (originally called the Links) shortly after, giving it 36 holes of genuinely different character on a single site.
The Forest Course runs through dense pine, cork oak, and Mediterranean scrub. Fairways are narrower, greens are elevated and well-defended by bunkers, and water comes into play on several holes. It is the more technical of the two and the one that tends to appear in national rankings. The Dunes Course occupies flatter, more exposed ground with a links-style feel: wider fairways, deep pot bunkers, and wind as an ever-present factor. The contrast between the two makes a 36-hole day here one of the most varied experiences in Catalan golf.
The on-site Emporda Golf Resort hotel makes this a natural base for Costa Brava golf trips, with Pals and Peralada both within easy reach. The club sits at the heart of the Emporda gastronomic region, known for its rice dishes, seafood, and DO Emporda wines.

The Courses
Forest Course
18 holesThe original course, winding through pine and cork oak forest. Narrower fairways, elevated greens, and water hazards on several holes demand accuracy. The more highly ranked of the two layouts.
Dunes Course
18 holesA links-inspired layout on flatter, more exposed terrain. Wider fairways, deep pot bunkers, and the Emporda wind create a very different challenge to the Forest Course.
Facilities & Amenities
Emporda Golf Resort: Hotel & Terraverda Spa
The on-site hotel sits within the grounds of the golf club with panoramic views over the Forest Course. Two restaurants serve the resort: Entrecamps (Mediterranean cuisine) and Terrafonda (braseria). Breakfast is buffet-style with views across the fairways. The Terraverda Spa offers a water circuit with Turkish hammam, Finnish sauna, contrast showers, and a hydrojet pool, plus relaxation and therapeutic massage treatments. A saltwater outdoor pool overlooks the course (June to September), and a 24-hour Technogym fitness zone is available to all guests. The resort's location in the heart of the Baix Emporda, surrounded by medieval villages, beaches, and the Emporda wine region, makes it a natural base for multi-day golf trips on the Costa Brava.
